Monument

A standing stone, cut and lettered, for a town square.

A monument is the oldest commission there is — a stone that outlasts the person or the moment it remembers. We cut them from a single block, lettered deep, set to stand for centuries.

The brief

stone granite or marble, one piece
size cut to the square's scale
lettering Roman capitals, V-cut
set deep footing, levelled, plumb

Our last one

A three-metre granite standing stone for a town square, lettered with the names of the town's war dead. The face was flamed, the letters polished — matte stone, mirror letters, legible from fifty metres.
